Design Sound Effects

Design sound effects for sound designers who want raw material with character. Strange material. Metal scraped until it moans, contact mic recordings of vibrating objects, breaths turned ghostly with reverb, and geophone recordings that reach down into rumbles you feel more than hear. Most of it leans dark and abstract. These are starting points for horror and sci-fi, and for anything that should sound unlike the real world.

A Geophone picks up vibration through the ground rather than the air, so it hears things a normal mic can't, like the deep groan of a structure or a rock settling. Those recordings, along with contact mics on metal, are where a lot of modern horror texture starts. Grim material. Designers pitch them down and layer them until they become a drone or the low dread under a jump scare. The whoosh libraries sit at the cleaner end, with Organic movement recorded from real objects for transitions and creature passes. Horror games and trailers soak them up.
