Container Terminal Sound Effects

Container Terminal sound effects from working ports. Giant container cranes and their alarms, with straddle carriers and reach stackers lifting boxes. Reversing alarms carry across the yard. Cargo trains roll through too. Some of it is ambisonic and the takes run long, with machinery working far off, so the yard can wrap right round a scene.

A container terminal has real depth: a crane working way off, an alarm somewhere behind, a truck crossing close. Long takes like these sit under a whole scene, and the ambisonic files can be rotated and decoded to suit the shot. The marina side of the Harbour comes with it, halyards rattling in the wind and mooring ropes squeaking, with more of the same in Port. Some recordings are busy, others are almost deserted and just hum with fans and pumps, which works for a night shift or a tense meeting between the stacks.
