Birdsong Sound Effects

Birdsong sound effects recorded out in the field, in deep forest and in towns and suburbs alike. Forest mornings and wetlands with frogs underneath, then quieter afternoons where the birds thin out to the odd call. Some are long takes. Species run from blackbirds and robins to nightingales and woodpeckers, with owls for the night end of things.

A full dawn chorus belongs at daybreak, and sparse calls over wind and leaves belong later in the day, so it pays to pick the recording by the hour of the scene. Easy to get wrong. Most of these are Field Recording ambiences with the place left in, leaves and wind in the canopy around the birds. Some follow the same wetland from dawn through to night. Individual species turn up across the dawn sets, Blackbird and robin among them, with nightingales and owls too. They suit nature documentaries and anything that needs a calm morning outside.
