Beam Sound Effects

Beam sound effects in both senses: the energy kind that fires out of a weapon, and the steel kind that holds up a bridge. Mostly energy. Laser and plasma beams with their charge-ups, plus magic blasts and anime mecha blasters, in retro and modern styles. The steel side is bridge barriers and warehouse beams, resonating as traffic and footsteps pass over them.

An energy beam usually has a shape: a Charge building up, the beam itself, then the hit at the far end. The anime libraries, built from electronic sources and field recordings, cover the classic cartoon version, from magic spells to Mecha blasters. The sci-fi weapon sets go heavier, with laser guns, Plasma cannons, forcefield impacts and EMP shockwaves. Pixel and arcade lasers handle the retro game side. The bridge recordings are a different animal altogether: the inner sound of steel, deep and metallic, which suits a spaceship hull as well as an actual bridge.
