Atmos Sound Effects
Atmos sound effects in both meanings of the word. On a dub stage, atmos just means atmosphere: dark designed backgrounds, eerie caves, ethereal beds and tense drones that sit under a scene. Then there's Atmos the format, with city nights full of crickets and crowds moving through stations and conventions, recorded for surround mixes that use the height channels.

Designed atmos is about mood more than place. A slowly shifting Dark Drone can make an empty corridor feel wrong without anyone noticing the sound itself. The darker libraries are built for horror and sci-fi, mostly organic textures and heavily processed sources. The surround recordings do the opposite job, putting the audience inside a real Nighttime street or a crowded Convention hall, with sound overhead as well as around. That's the height channels earning their keep.
