Accordion Sound Effects

Accordion sound effects, the squeezebox used for laughs. Bellows wheezing open and shut, a long sagging groan when a plan falls apart, a stretchy honk for a character pulled too far. Most of it comes from cartoon libraries, where accordion sits next to harmonica, violin and slide whistle as a way to time a gag. Silly, in the best way.

Animators have leaned on the accordion for years because the bellows move like a body. Stretch, squash, a wheeze on the way out. The cartoon recordings use it exactly that way, as short hits next to a Slide Whistle or a squeaky toy, cut for Slapstick timing. Beyond the cartoons, there's a rural Turkish wedding recorded on location and some themed slot game sets where the squeezebox adds a bit of local colour.
