Kookaburra Sound Effects

Kookaburra sound effects, that unmistakable laugh. It starts as a chuckle, builds into a full cackle and often sets off the rest of the family until the whole tree is at it. Mostly at dawn and dusk. Around it you get the wider Australian bush, plus Tasmanian rainforest and coast thick with birds and frogs.

Nothing says Australia faster than a kookaburra, which is why film and TV use it as shorthand for the outback, sometimes in places it would never actually live. The recordings here put it in its proper setting, in the Bush at Dusk, alongside the birdlife of wet Tasmanian forest. There's a didgeridoo set too, including animal imitations, for documentaries that want the land and the culture together.
