Gondola Sound Effects

Gondola sound effects of both kinds, cable car and boat. Most of it is up a mountain in winter. Gondola lifts are recorded from the cabin to the cables, and there's a ski resort terminal too. The boat kind turns up in canal city ambiences, among the boats and the tourists.

A gondola lift is mostly cable. The rattle as a cabin rolls over a tower and the long hum of wire overhead are what tell you you're off the ground. Down at water level it's a different gondola altogether, and the Canal ambiences put the boats among water buses and busy squares. The lift recordings were hard won, with microphones awkward to place outside the machinery and weekend crowds adding noise. Lay the cabin interior under dialogue for a tense ride, and bring in the storm recordings, winds strong enough to shut a resort, when the weather turns.
