Crafting Steampunk Roomtones: this sound library represents a personal homage to Manchester. This city mirrors the Industrial Revolution and as a Sci-Fi reader it inspires a sight of Steampunk genre when walking through the small towns that encompass Great Manchester. As part of its industrial history, Robinson Brewery has prevalence along with the city. I booked a visit to Robinson Brewery on the 11th of January, making possible to tour the Brewery and record the machinery.

The equipment used was the H5 portable recorder and the Rode NTG2. The use of the three microphones at the same time was a very useful consideration regarding backup, as some of the recordings were not suitable for use due to the ambient conditions of the place. The tour was fully complete, recording every room where the brew is craft, repose and ready to be delivered. Each sound of the library is one different warehouse of the Brewery. After two hours of exploration, the next stop was the Unicorn Bottling, where the bottling and packaging is manufactured. This place is a very loud factory, the SPL surpasses the range of human hearing. It is not plausible to speak or have the ears uncovered as they are exposed to sore and damage. The outcome yielded into unconventional and interesting roomtones.

They are category-based file name with the metadata included in the folder to enhance the searching for the audio files. The audio files are delivered in 96 kHz/24-bit and 44.1 kHz/16-bit in stereo image.

The topic selected for this sound library is fundamentally a yearning for expressing a creative piece of art within the sound library’s field, remote of the conventional commercial sound libraries.
